What You Should Know Before Breast Augmentation With Fat Transfer

Breast augmentation with fat transfer is a procedure in which fat is harvested from one body part like the hips, abdomen, arms, love handles, or thighs and injected into the breasts to increase their volume. It is also called autologous breast augmentation. Fat cells are purified prior to injection and result in a very subtle and natural look of breasts besides giving them volume.

What are the benefits of Fat transfer?

The procedure will increase your breast size up to one cup size and make them look smoother, firm, and round than before. It also helps to contour the edges and make your breasts look perfectly round.

Women who want to enhance their cleavage can benefit from the procedure because it adds volume. The best part is that you can get fat reduction from areas where you have excessive fat without big cuts and stitches. However, when you go through breast implant surgery, you will have some incision lines on your breasts.

Fat transfer is also very good for women who got a breast transplant but have an outline or a ripple, your surgeon can fill it up using fat grafting while enhancing your cleavage.

Are the results of breast augmentation with fat transfer permanent?

When a surgeon injects the fat into the breasts, some of it is reabsorbed by the body, so over filling is important. After the healing is done, the remaining fat develops blood vessels in fat tissues resulting in a long-term volume. This takes around 2 to 4 weeks.

There are some important points that must be considered when thinking about getting the procedure.

  • Your body reabsorbs some of the fat, and it can result in a decrease in the size of your breasts
  • Your weight loss or weight gain after the treatment might interfere with the results
  • Your fat cells shrink or expand depending on your fat, so if you lose a lot of weight, this means you will lose some fat from your breasts as well.

How to maintain the results?

Living a very healthy lifestyle which includes eating a healthy diet including fruits and vegetables and doing exercise regularly, will help you to maintain the results of the treatment.

What is the recovery time?

The injected fat forms blood vessels after some time (mostly one and half months). Recovery time takes only a few days with slight discomfort. However, at the injected site, you’ll need a compression cloth to decrease the swelling.

New fat cells will take some time properly integrate into your body tissues, so, you should avoid any pressure on your breasts for a minimum of two weeks. That means you won’t be able to wear tight undergarments or bra, or anything that will put pressure on your breasts.

You can resume your office job in one 4 to 6 days and if your job needs lots of physical activity, you’ll need to take leave for at least one week. Also, you can’t hit the gym minimum of two weeks after the procedure is done.
