UX Mistakes to Avoid On Your Website Buttons

UX Mistakes to Avoid On Your Website Buttons

When you make a website, there could be some design errors. To ensure that there are no mistakes while designing a website, you should list everything that has to be done, do a cross-check, and go through all the details after you have created the website. It doesn’t matter whether it’s a personal or client’s website.

Website buttons are commonly seen on forms, homepages of websites, toolbars, and dialog boxes. These buttons are often used to select actions on a website like submitting, deleting, and cancelling. Buttons inspire visitors to take specific actions and interact with the website owner or brand. You can see buttons on the websites where users can fill a form and give their details for further communication.

To create functional and attractive buttons, you should pay enough attention to button UX design. In this article, you will discover the common UX mistakes that have to be avoided on website buttons.

5 Common UX Mistakes to Avoid on Your Website Buttons

Have you ever visited a website and felt that some changes could make the website better? Nobody creates mistakes knowingly; most of the time, mistakes happen because of carelessness. Users can often be confused when they see unnecessary buttons, so you should be careful when designing a website. There are some of the most common UI/UX mistakes that UI/UX designers make when creating web buttons, such as:

A reset button

Web designers often include a reset button on the left side of the website. You can see this button on websites with surveys and forms. During most instances, users would get frustrated because of filling forms multiple times (they can click a reset button by mistake instead of Submit.)

  1. Website button design

Often web designers make mistakes creating small and faded buttons. You need to remember that buttons should be prominent so that everyone can see them. They should have striking colors so that everyone can notice the buttons and not press them mistakenly. Having vivid colors for buttons will ensure that even people with poor eyesight can see them. The buttons for going ahead should be on the right, and for going back should be on the left. Also, take into account that buttons on mobile screens look smaller, so you should make it convenient for users to type them correctly.

Many buttons

When there are many buttons, it can often confuse users. Keep the number of buttons limited. Use big buttons for the critical actions; for the other options, use relatively small buttons. Many buttons on a website look unattractive and often make the user think twice before clicking on a button or even revisiting a website.

Ugly buttons

Sometimes the buttons have animations and other special effects, which can make your site look amateur. Creating animated buttons is no longer in the trend; it was trending a couple of years before. Clean and precise buttons will look better on your website, and users will have a favorable opinion about it.

Misleading button labels

When you make a website button, you need to be creative while labeling it. For example, it isn’t recommended to name all the buttons as Next or Submit. It’s good to think out of the box and create unique and understandable labels for people. You can also place icons on buttons or use images as buttons.

By now, you know the common errors found while making website buttons. To ensure that these common mistakes are not on your website, go through your web design carefully and make all the necessary changes before publishing a website. The more attractive your website looks, the more people visit it. Having a website is like creating your identity online, so you should give it a lot of attention.

Data center core switch overview

With the development of information technology and the popularity of the Internet, the requirements for network equipment in data centers are gradually increasing, and ordinary switches are often unable to meet the needs of data centers. Data center-grade core switches are characterized by high quality service assurance and control identification capability, which can ensure stable and reliable data transmission, and higher security, simpler networking and faster service deployment.

What is data center core switch?

A core switch is not a type of switch, but a switch that is placed at the core layer (the backbone part of the network). It is located at the uppermost layer of the three-tier network architecture and is equivalent to the top manager of a company. Its main role is to quickly forward data from the aggregation layer and provide a fast and reliable network architecture by forwarding data at high speed. Generally speaking, the core switch has a large number of ports and high bandwidth. Compared with the access switch and aggregation switch, it has higher reliability, redundancy, throughput and relatively low delay. For a network with more than 100 computers, if you want to run stably and at high speed, the core switch is essential.

What is the difference between a core switch and a regular switch?

  1. Differences in ports

The number of common switch ports is generally 24 to 48, and most of the network ports are Gigabit Ethernet or 100M Ethernet ports, which are mainly used to access user data or gather switch data of some access layers. This switch can be configured with VLAN simple routing protocol and some simple SNMP functions at most, and the backplane bandwidth is relatively small.

The core switch has a large number of ports, usually modular, and can be freely matched with optical ports and Gigabit Ethernet ports. Generally, core switches are three-layer switches, which can be set up with various advanced network protocols such as routing protocols/ACL/QoS/load balancing. The main point is that core switches have much higher backplane bandwidth than normal switches and usually have separate engine modules. For example, if you want to upgrade your network from 10G to 40G, you can use the 40G QSFP+ to 10G SFP+ solution to connect the switches. This is done by sequentially inserting four 10G SFP+ optical modules into the 10Gbps SFP+ port of one switch, then inserting one 40G QSFP+ optical module into the 40Gbps QSFP+ port of another switch, and finally connecting them with a branch fiber patch cable in the middle.

  1. Difference in user connection or access to the network

Generally, the part of the network directly facing user connection or access is called access layer, and the part between access layer and core layer is called distribution layer or aggregation layer. The purpose of access layer is to allow end users to connect to the network, so the access layer switch has the characteristics of low cost and high port density. The aggregation layer switch is the aggregation point of multiple access layer switches. It must be able to handle all traffic from the access layer equipment and provide uplink to the core layer. Therefore, the aggregation layer switch has higher performance, fewer interfaces and higher switching rate.

The network backbone is called the core layer. The main purpose of the core layer is to provide an optimized and reliable backbone transmission structure through high-speed forwarding communication. Therefore, the core layer switch application has higher reliability, performance and throughput.

What are the characteristics of data center core switches?

Compared with regular switches, data center switches have the following characteristics: large cache, high capacity, virtualization, FCoE and layer-2 TRILL technology.

·Large cache technology

The data center switch changes the out port cache mode of the traditional switching system and adopts the distributed cache architecture, which is much larger than the ordinary switch. The cache capacity of core switches can reach more than 1G, while that of general switches can only reach 2 ~ 4M. Core switches need to be used with high-performance fiber optical transceiver. In the case of burst traffic, the large cache of the core switch can still ensure zero packet loss in network forwarding, which is just suitable for the characteristics of large number of servers and large burst traffic in the data center.

·High capacity equipment

Network traffic in data centers is characterized by high-density application scheduling and surge burst buffering, while ordinary switches are mainly designed to meet interconnection and interoperability, and cannot achieve precise identification and control of services, and cannot achieve fast response and zero packet loss in large service situations to ensure business continuity. Therefore, ordinary switches cannot meet the needs of data centers, and data center switches need to have high-capacity forwarding characteristics. Data center switches must support high-density 10GbE boards, i.e. 48-port 10GbE boards. In order to enable full wire-speed forwarding of 48-port 10GbE boards, data center switches can only adopt CLOS distributed switching architecture. In addition, with the popularity of 40G and 100G, 8-port 40G boards and 4-port 100G boards are becoming commercially available to meet the demand for high-density applications in data centers. In the future, to achieve the popularity of 400G network, we can only rely on data center core switches and 400G optical transceiver.

·Virtualization Technology

Data center network equipment needs to be highly manageable and highly secure and reliable, so data center switches also need to support virtualization. Virtualization is the transformation of physical resources into logically manageable resources to break down the barriers between physical structures. With virtualization technology, multiple network devices can be managed in a unified manner or services on a single device can be completely isolated, thus reducing data center management costs by 40% and increasing IT utilization by approximately 25%.

·TRILL (Transparent Interconnection of Lots of Links) Technology

In terms of building a two-layer network, the original standard of the data center is STP protocol, but it has some defects. For example, STP works through port blocking, and all redundant links do not forward data, resulting in a waste of bandwidth resources; STP has only one spanning tree in the whole network, and data messages can arrive only after being transferred through the root bridge, which affects the forwarding efficiency of the whole network. Therefore, STP will no longer be suitable for the expansion of super large data centers.

TRILL is produced to avoid these defects of STP and is a technology for data center applications. TRILL protocol effectively combines the two-layer configuration and flexibility with the three-layer integration, so that the whole network can realize loop free forwarding without configuration. TRILL technology is the basic characteristic of the core switch in the data center, which is not possessed by ordinary switches.

·FCoE (Fibre Channel over Ethernet) Technology

Traditional data centers often have a data network and a storage network, while the trend of network integration of the new generation of data centers is becoming more and more obvious. The emergence of FCoE technology makes network integration possible. FCoE is a technology that encapsulates the data frame of storage network in Ethernet frame for forwarding. The realization of this integration technology must be on the switches in the data center. Generally, ordinary switches do not support FCoE function.

The above network technologies are the main technologies of the core switch in the data center, which are not possessed by the ordinary switch. These technologies are network technologies serving the new generation of data centers and even cloud data centers. With these new network technologies, the data center has developed rapidly.

Using Robots in Manufacturing

Using Robots in Manufacturing

The industrial robotics industry is growing fast, with experts predicting it to reach the $42.2 billion mark by the end of 2021. For manufacturers, making the switch to robotics seems like an inevitability.

But what if you don’t know much about robot manufacturing? What are robots in manufacturing and how do they affect your company?

That’s what we’re going to dive into today. Read on to find out more about using robots in the different manufacturing industries here.

What Are Robots in Manufacturing?

Robots have been used in manufacturing since around the mid-20th century, mostly to alleviate mundane and time-consuming tasks from human workers. Since then, it’s expanded to more dynamic roles in manufacturing.

Nowadays, robots in manufacturing settings do much more than work that no one wants to do. They provide reliable support to human workers in factory settings with precision, speed, and accuracy.

Robots are often categorized based on their movement, applications, make, and brand. With rising labor costs, manufacturing robots are becoming imperative for many manufacturing plants.

But before we discuss robots’ roles in manufacturing, it’s important that we know the different types of robots common in factories. Let’s break those down in the next section.

Types of Robots

Manufacturers use a variety of different robots, starting with the articulated robot. These robots have rotary joints that provide them with the dynamic movement needed for increased flexibility.

There are also Cartesian robots that similarly have three rotary joints. This allows them to move across the X, Y, and Z axes. They’re great for assembly line work since they’re relatively cheap and move accurately.

Cylindrical robots, on the other hand, move up, down, and around a cylindrical pole. These are also great for assembly line work, since they can move between specific points faster.

Combining the traits of cylindrical and Cartesian robots are spherical robots. These move around in a three-dimensional space by using a robotic arm attached to a twisting joint.

There are even more robot types that manufacturers use daily, including the incredibly precise and spider-like delta robots. But what exactly are their specific roles in manufacturing?

So What Are Their Roles in Manufacturing?

It’s hard to pinpoint a list of robots’ roles in modern manufacturing due to their wide versatility. Most factories use them for repetitive yet imperative tasks like welding and painting.

Cylindrical robots can be used to pick up and place certain parts across assembly lines. More dexterous robots can be used to package and label factory products as well.

Robots are also used for product inspection or even testing. All of these different applications can be optimized by a manufacturer based on speed, precision, and accuracy.

Manufacturing Industries Using Robotics

But which industries are actually using robotics for their manufacturing lines? You might be surprised how many people are keen on using robots for manufacturing their products. Let’s break them down here:

Automotive Industry

This industry probably won’t surprise you. Americans are used to seeing car factories using long assembly lines with robotic arms assembling automobiles.

Car companies rely on robots to not only assemble their cars, but also test them for safety. These robots speed up production while ensuring accurate reporting for safety tests.

Electronics Industry

Smartphones, TVs, and computers are in high demand these days, meaning manufacturers need to produce these products as fast as possible. Robots make it easier to meet high electronic quotas.

Manufacturing robots allow for more efficient electronics production, while making it easier for employees. They also handle electronics incredibly carefully, making sure everything is delivered to the customer safely.

Medical Industry

Believe it or not, robots can assist doctors and surgeons during crucial procedures. Human surgeries can often be performed more accurately by robotic arms, provided that it’s programmed properly.

Food and Agriculture

Robots are often used by food manufacturers to detect product defects before they’re put out for delivery. This leads to consistently excellent food products being delivered to customers.

Farmers are also finding that robots make their lives easier. Robots can detect diseases that affect crop yields, and the process of spraying and removing weeds is also made more efficient.

Financial Benefits To Using Manufacturing Robots

With robots handling manufacturing jobs at a faster, more efficient pace, it’s no surprise that factories are saving money. While robots might sound like an expensive investment, the long-term costs are hard to deny.

Robots, like those produced by OnRobot, are usually a one-time investment if we ignore repairs and updates. They’ll get the same amount of work done every day without compensation.

Robots will also perform their tasks effectively and without mistakes, reducing the likelihood of defective products. Your factory will therefore be using your resources more efficiently, reducing costs along the way.

Manufacturing robots can also work during off-hours if you need them to. Since they can keep running no matter the time of day, you can save a lot of time when pumping out a large volume of products.

But Don’t They Eliminate Jobs?

A common criticism for manufacturing robots is that they take away jobs from human employees. This is a valid concern, since robots don’t need compensation, and therefore save companies a lot of money.

However, it’s important to note that robotics are becoming a key part of the competition between American manufacturers. Without competition being induced by robots, all employee jobs are more likely to be moved overseas.

Robots also create more important skill-related jobs, since the mundane tasks that not many people are eager to do are being taken care of. This means human workers can spend time performing more high-level tasks.

Leveraging Robots In Manufacturing

Adopting robots in manufacturing can be a big step for a lot of companies, but it’ll ultimately be a worthwhile leap. Use this article to help you understand how they’re used in factory settings and why they’re beneficial.
