Thinking to study in Australia? Know this before you start

Why Study in Australia?

Before any of it, decide the education you want to pursue if you haven’t already.

Whatever stream, course, the specialization you choose to go with, do enough research about it like subjects, topics, learning modules, facilities, and, post-study career opportunities to be sure that it is something you want to do and in Australia.

Study in Australia sounds tempting for sure especially because of what Australia has to offer to you not just in terms of learning, education quality but also lifestyle, experience, environment, friends, and of course joy. If you are a fan of tropical climate, don’t want to miss either of four seasons, then your place it is.

The must do’s

1. Visa Requirements

So you have decided to go to Australia, what next? Information you need to get first-hand is Visa requirements. Which visa subclass you are applying for, its scope, visa conditions, English language requirement (Mostly PTE or IELTS), basics-checks, documents required, Overseas health insurance providers, visa fee, validity, process, age & other criteria listed by the Department of Home Affairs.

2. English Language test- PTE or IELTS?

There are around 5 English Language tests; PTE, IELTS, TOEFL, CAE &, OET accepted by many countries around the world and chosen as per different applications requirement. Most commonly taken, widely accepted & heard about are PTE & IELTS. On average. 5.5 bands in IELTS and 42 score in PTE represents modest English level. However, the score requirement may differ as per particular university or college rules, so check that out.

3. PR possibilities

After spending so much time studying you would definitely want to work in Australia. Once the lifestyle suits, surrounding feels amazing, opportunities pops-up you would no longer wish to leave. So check the possibilities of permanent residency after you study in Australia. It’s always a good idea to know about things as you must see all the opportunities that may come through and take the necessary steps.

After studying in Australia, most people get regional work experience and apply for PR under the most effective PR Visa subclass i.e. Skill migration/ Point-based visa. These permanent residency points are claimed based on age, education, experience, regional experience, English-communicating skills, etc. To be eligible you would need a minimum of 65 points but the more, the better.

Aspirants apply for skilled migration visa also choose to take NAATI CCL Test. Once they crack NAATI CCL Test, 5 PR points add to the bag.

4. Overseas health insurance

“Health is Wealth” that’s an old one but never too old to consider & take action!

Overseas health insurance is something you wouldn’t miss. As per government rules International students must obtain Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the entire time they are going to be in the country. It covers their medical expenses like medicines, doctor visit bills, treatment charges, ambulance cover, etc.

There are two ways to purchase OSHC, one is you do it by yourself and the second is your education provider can choose for you, either way, you do have to maintain the coverage.

5. Explore your options

Well to put light on it again….

Australia is recognized as one of the best and most liked places to study. It is well known for delivering quality education. With robust academic offerings be it engineering, accounting, health care, or other streams, the country attracts thousands of students from different parts of the world. Check for the courses or degree as per your area of interest or field of study and be sure this is what you going to study and do for the rest of your work career.

6. Which University or College?

It does have seven of the top 100 universities across the world so yes you got quite the names here. Two majorly opposite lives as you choose the location like on the coastline or in the big city. However, beauty in view is consistent all over Australia. What do you enjoy partying with friends on the weekend or get your feet in the white sand on the coast and feel the soothing air?

Choose the college or university smartly by analysing the course offering, fees, course structure, curriculum, extra activities, placement, flexibility and decide what suits best to you.

7. The Wise Consultant

The Visa & admission process could be as frustrating, time-consuming, expensive as it can get, or could just be an easy path to cross with the Immigration & Education consultancy you take help from.

The Immigration & Education industry has grown tremendously over the years. You will see several agents in the market but don’t think that all are the same & go with anyone. Don’t prefer the one who shows you unrealistic dreams or offers high discounts, who might be the fishy one, who will get you in a costly mess.

Instead, find a trusted organization or certified individual who you can rely on and could make the journey effortless and process faster for you. Do a little research, get reviews from people, eye their success rate & stories, check out offerings by multiple consultants.

8. The Culture to fall for

The culture, of course! Know more before you can keep going. Australian people are friendly and easy to be with, so you wouldn’t face much trouble making friends. There is no hard-core formal aspect needed in conversation; you can freely talk with faculties or authorities.

Australia welcomed a lot of immigrants over the years; you will experience a good mix of regional cultures brought by people coming from across the world. Weekends on the Beaches is a VERY THING in Australia. Coffee in Melbourne is bliss.
