Stay away from acne by following these easy steps

It’s everyone’s dream to have acne-free and clear skin. Having clear, healthy-looking skin not only makes you look better, but also makes you feel better. The most important step to confidence is feeling good.

There are different causes of pimples and who struggle with stubborn acne knows how uncomfortable physically and emotionally it can be. But don’t worry you’re not alone, many people struggle with finding a solution to acne and breakouts. Clear skin starts with a good skin care routine.

The importance of daily cleansing

Step 1.

Daily Cleansing:  Daily cleansing helps reduce the build-up of dead skin cells, excess oil, and dirt. It is recommended to wash your face at least twice a day. However, be cautious about excessive over-washing, as it may irritate your skin and further aggravate your acne. For acne-prone skin, a water-based gel can be very beneficial for this purpose. For chronic acne prone skin, an anti-acne soap such as one that contains benzoyl peroxide will add to the effectiveness of the cleanse. For best results, bathe your skin in steam after washing. You may enjoy a soothing steam regime while in the shower.

Different type of toners, for different types of skin

Step 2.

Toner: if you have oily or acne-prone skin, then toner is essential for you. It helps get rid of excess dirt and heavy makeup after initial cleansing in Step 1. It also brings back the skin’s natural pH balance. Some toners serve as moisturizers and have anti-inflammatory benefits which lessen the appearance of acne scars. Toners with Vitamin E and glycerol components are suitable for dry and sensitive skin while salicylic acid and tea tree oil are for oily and acne-prone skin. Toners aid in closing pores and tightening cell gaps after cleansing and steaming. This will help protect from the penetration of impurities such as environmental contaminants and from chlorine and minerals that may be present in tap water. Clogged pores are more likely to develop pimples, a good quality toner will help remove oil and impurities from the skin, preventing your pores from becoming clogged with them.

Hydrated skin, is healthy skin

Step 3.

Moisturizer: Keep your skin hydrated and supple. As we age, the oil glands responsible for keeping our skin healthy become less efficient, producing less oil. By moisturizing daily, you will help maintain your skins moisture and vitality. Moisturizer acts as a barrier and helps prevent environmental damage to your skin. Use moisturizer wisely as it is significant to note that excessive use of moisturizer can cause breakouts and further aggravate pimples. Our skin can only absorb what it needs, and any extra product will sit on the surface of your skin. This will create a greasy layer that can accumulate dirt and bacteria, clogging your pores which can aggravate acne.  It is important to make sure you are using acne friendly moisturizer that is oil -free and noncomedogenic, meaning it won’t clog your pores.

How to treat acne scars

Step 4.

Acne Scar Cream: unfortunately, even when acne is gone, it can leave a scar behind.

With regular use, scar cream can lessen the appearance of scar tissue. The cream works by drying out the top layers of your skin, allowing the scar tissue to dry and peel off. This allows new formation of fresh skin tissues which will minimize the look of scarring.

The benefits of a facial mask

Step 5.

Face mask/ Sheet mask: To give an extra boost to your fight against stubborn acne, use a high-quality facial mask. A facial mask works to draw out excess oil and impurities in your skin. Not only will this help fight current acne but can help prevent future breakouts. Use a high-quality facial mask once to three times a week for best results.

The power of serums

Step 6.

Serum: High quality serums are essential for your overall skincare routine. They are loaded with anti-aging, ant-acne, and other antioxidant properties that benefit your skin. Knowing your skin type is very important in choosing the right serum for you. For oily and acne-prone skin, use serums with salicylic acid, retinol, and rosehip seed oil as they help in unclogging pores and cell regeneration. For other skin types like dry and mature skin, use a serum with hyaluronic acid and Vitamin C.

Not all sunscreens are created equal

Step 7.

Sunscreen: As we know sunscreen protects the skin from getting sunburned and helps protect your skin from damaging UV radiation. However, some sunscreens contain harsh chemicals that can further aggravate your acne. Look for sunscreens that are noncomedogenic, and water-based, oil free formulas.

Be patient and persistent

Be patient and allow 4 to 8 weeks of persistent care in following these steps to see positive results for your skin. Being good to your skin will have you glowing, inside and out and don’t forget to workout in the gym 3-5 times a week or you can do a fun running with a nice running shoes on the weekend, this will help you to get rid of the stress and boost your healthy skin.
