Path of Exile – How Trading Works

In Path of Exile, the art of trading plays a huge part. This isn’t such a huge surprise, given that there are so many lucrative items within the game and the way in which PoE currency works makes the PoE trade system work very well. Despite this system being in place, the game itself doesn’t explain how it works all too well.

With that in mind, here are a few pointers to help get you started on how trading works in the popular ARPG.

About Chaos Orbs

There are a few different forms in which PoE currency represents itself in Path of Exile. You would normally be expecting to see the likes of gold or coins or something along those lines to be used in a game such as this, though this isn’t the case here. Path of Exile instead opts for Chaos Orbs, which are the closest thing you will get to how currency is represented, and the value is related to other PoE items that you find.

These PoE orbs are the most sought-after PoE currency in the game, due to the effect they have in which they randomize the modifiers of an item that you have found. They are a very rare find which means that they don’t suffer from the likes of inflation as other in-game currencies usually would, and they can eventually be used to make very powerful gear.

How PoE Trading Works

As for the trading mechanic itself, Path of Exile doesn’t provide you with an in-game method of performing trading. If you do want to be able to trade with other players, then you are going to have to get in touch with other players, before heading to a hideout to get started with the trade. You would need to keep an eye on the in-game chat in case someone mentions an item that you are looking for.

This is one of the downsides of manual trading. You are having to rely on keeping watch of the chat until the opportunity for the PoE item that you want presents itself. You will then have to hit the ‘whisper’ option so you can get their information and add it to the chat. You can then use this as a form of communication between you and the other player. To help aid this process, there is a resource website known as PoE Trade, so read on if you would like to know more about how you can trade a bit easier in Path of Exile.

PoE.Trade

So now you have a bit more of an idea of how PoE currency and trading works, you will want to know about the aspect of trading in terms of where it takes place. Again, as mentioned earlier, this is something that isn’t exactly made clear by the game itself. That being said, it does have a huge role to play in the community, and in this particular instance, it comes from a resource known as PoE Trade.

The PoE.Trade site is a tool that players can use to see which PoE items are being traded. You can also put-up items that you would like to offer as well as search for Path of Exile items you need. You can see how much the trade would be valued at and go from there. There are a lot of filters if you are looking for something specific too, so you can see what league the item is being offered within and much more.

With that being said, you should now take the time to take a look at the site itself and acclimatize yourself to it. Once you have a better idea of how the trading works and how the site operates, you can then start to look into taking trading more seriously. See how others have put up offers or even purchase an item that you have been looking for if necessary, to help you get your head around it.

One certainty in Path of Exile is that there is a fair amount for you to get your head around, especially where trading is concerned. Hopefully, you have a bit of a better idea of what you can expect from the likes of PoE trade and how PoE currency works so that you can make the most of it. Once you have gotten your head around the website itself, you should have no problems in getting comfortable with the ways of trading in Path of Exile.
