Most of the trek in Khumbu region starts from Lukla with the incredible flight in a domestic plane. Lukla Airport is itself a  major attraction of the Khumbu region. The airport is located in a unique and dramatic place offering the thrilling experience on landing as well as take off. 

  1. Tengboche Monastery

Tengboche Monastery is the largest and popular Tibetan Buddhist Monastery situated in Tengboche village of Khumbu region. The monastery also offers the incredible view of spectacular mountains including the tallest mountain of the world, Mount Everest and other mountains like Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Tawache and more. On the way to trek in the Khumbu region, you will see the small gumba and chortens along the fluttering prayer flags. The prayer flags have five different colors which have a deep meaning. Tengboche Monastery is a spiritual monastery in Khumbu. Mani Rimdu festival is a popular festival celebrated in Tengboche. During this festival, Lamas and Sherpa gather at this monastery for the welfare of the world. 

  1. Kala Patthar

Kala Patthar literally is a Black stone of Khumbu region. It is a famous vantage point of Khumbu region which offers the stunning views of many giant mountains including Mount Everest. Kala patthar is situated at an altitude of 5644 meters and  is the highest point of Everest Base Camp trek. This vantage point is popular for picturesque views of sunrise and sunset over gigantic white Himalayas. 

  1. Sagarmatha National Park

Sagarmatha National Park is a major attraction of Khumbu region. This  national park has been listed as a world heritage site by UNESCO. This national park is located at an elevation of 2800 meter to 8848 meters which is also the home of many endangered Himalayan wildlife of Nepal. The park preserves the unique landscape of the Himalayas. This is the only national park which reaches at the highest altitude. Some species of wildlife found in Sagarmatha National park are Musk deer, Himalayan Monal, Snow Leopard, Blood pheasant, Himalayan Black Bear,  Himalayan Tahrs, Red Panda, Langur Monkeys and Himalayan wolves. If you are trekking through Sagarmatha National Park you will get the opportunity to see these endangered animals along the 118 species of unique and beautiful birds.
