Five Technologies Altering Human Life

Human civilization has always been in flux. It has always changed and evolved with technology and advancements. The only difference now is how fast technology is changing. We have reached an exponential amount of growth in tech like artificial intelligence (AI).

While most people don’t interact with advanced tech daily, this won’t be for long. Technologies will become more accessible to the average person and businesses of all kinds will embrace tech to improve efficiency and lower overhead. It doesn’t matter what kind of person you are and what you want out of life. Below are five technologies altering human life and society.

Automation

Automation is changing humanity in various ways. For example, automation has been used to eliminate human jobs. Automated robotic arms can perform tedious and boring tasks much faster and more efficiently than humans can. Furthermore, they can do these tasks for longer. Automation isn’t just cutting down the number of human jobs that there are. It is also changing transportation. With advanced GPS, 5G internet, and image capture technology, automation is creating self-driving vehicles.

Not only will self-driving vehicles eliminate the jobs of drivers, but it will also make the roads safer and more efficient. There won’t be as many accidents. Transportation will be faster. We will be able to get where we are going more quickly because there will be less traffic and vehicles will be able to go faster. In the world of the future, cars, planes, and trains will all drive themselves.

Robotics

Automated arms and self-driving cars are essentially examples of robotics. Robots aren’t quite what Philip K. Dick envisioned in his novels, yet. Still, there are other robotic advancements that are already changing the way humans live and work. In addition to eliminating jobs, robots are also enhancing them.

For example, remotely controlled robots can work in high up and dangerous places without putting humans in harm’s way. Robotic gloves protect human hands from hazardous chemicals, extreme temperatures, and blades. Full exoskeleton body suits improve the endurance, precision, and dexterity of humans. It makes them stronger and more capable of performing difficult tasks. Robotics is changing human life and work in all sorts of profound ways beyond cleaning the floor.

Virtual & Augmented Reality

Virtual reality (VR) is the ability to function in a digital environment using a headset and other immersive technologies. On the other hand, augmented reality (AR) uses the tangible world in tandem with the digital world to perform tasks and entertain people. With AR and 5G internet, there are real-life applications. Doctors, surgeons, and other medical professionals can provide remote treatment. They can even perform full-scale operations. VR and AR will prove to be far more than entertainment, but if you want to see where it’s at now, put on a headset and play a game in the digital realm.

Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Artificial intelligence (AI) is just that—machines that are intelligent. With machine learning computer programming, AI units can teach themselves new things. They begin writing their own code. They can create art. They can solve complex problems quickly. Finally, they can analyze large sets of data in an instant.

This will change the human world in untold ways. There is no knowing for sure just how much AI will alter the ways in which we live, but it is surely one of the most significant technologies we have today. AI is already changing the world. There is a large amount of philosophical debate surrounding AI. One Google engineer got fired for claiming that the AI LaMDA is sentient.

The future is, in some ways, certain and in other ways very uncertain. Whether you are embracing the future and all the technological advancements or you’re afraid of what’s to come, there is no stopping it. The best move is to embrace the technology but to always be skeptical. If we stay wary and utilize tech to solve problems, we could create a better world.

Human life will never be the same. We can’t go back to the way humans of the past used to live. There is only going forward. If we can balance our human nature with the realities of what we have created, we just may be able to live in peace and harmony with technological beings.
