Dealing with sibling rivalry

Published

on

Parenting is hard enough as it is, throw in sibling rivalry and you have got the ultimate test of your patience. Regardless of what your little age your angels are, they tend to become wee devils when there is a sibling in the mix.

They bicker about everything; from food to clothing to toys to even affection. The bouts of competition are sometimes imposed by people; well Sara started to stand second in her class whereas Nadia barely scraped by, screaming for Nadia to react. But at times, the constant competition is imposed by the kids themselves as well.

For parents, enforcing peace all the time can be hard. It’s an added job, alongside the stress of raising them. Sibling rivalry is also not just a thing of childhood; it can become even more intense with age.

Not just for the sake of their own sanity do parents need a resolution of the rivalry, but it can lead to serious psychological issues as well, if not addressed. Sibling rivalry is associated with anxiety, resentment, low esteem, all of which might then need to be addressed by a professional like the Best Psychiatrist in Lahore.

Parents, however, need to be more proactive in dealing with and resolving the problem of sibling rivalry.

Dealing with the rivalry

 Set boundaries and rules

It is important for parents to enforce rules to prevent bullying and maintain basic discipline. These ground rules also come in handy when trying to resolve conflicts, as usually, one of the kids is breaking them to get things their way.

Moreover, it is pertinent for parents to establish rules about not hitting, swearing, losing temper etc. This way, children will know that they have to abide by the rules, and they are responsible for their own actions when they break the ‘law’.

Division of labor

One of the bones of contention that children tend to have is when the brunt of the work falls on one child, and the other walks scot-free. Therefore, this may lead to resentment in children, causing the rivalry to start.

Parents tend to ask more of their obedient child, who then has to carry the burden of parents’ expectations. Their acquiescing might be momentary, but it may lead to complications later on.

Thus, parents should do just division of labor. No one child should have to be responsible for the family, everyone needs to pitch in.

Say no to favoritism

This might be hard for parents to admit to, but they do play favorites –most of the times. It may not be intentional, but your children pick on it. This favoritism can also then influence your role as the arbitrator.

Thus, try to enforce discipline in yourself as well. You might need to set a system that befits your family dynamic, but you need to find an arrangement in which the child is performing and behaving better is lauded, yet the naughty one is not made to feel inferior by comparison.

This sort of favoritism might become worse as children grow up, and that will not only cause resentment towards the siblings but the parents as well.

Don’t play teams

A conflict among the siblings does not mean that parents have to side with one. It is possible for them to be impartial judges. If you can, try staying out of the conflict altogether. This way, children will hopefully learn how to resolve conflict on their own.

Stop labeling

The sibling rivalry may very well be drawn due to the parents’ attitude. Putting labels on the kids, like smart ones, athletic one, etc. can inadvertently lead to competition and rivalry between the children, as they race to get the more coveted title.

Thus, do not celebrate the accomplishments of one child, at the expense of the other kid. Try not to box your kids, so they do not resent their siblings. Instead, create a nurturing environment whereby everyone is made to feel special.

Give each child attention

Your children may have very different interests, and you may be only able to cater to one, but you are paving way for resentment-cum-rivalry between the two. As they compete for the parent’s attention, they might squabble amongst each other.

Therefore, be sure to give each child their due attention, even if it means more work for you.

Plan family time

When you spend quality time together, you tend to grow fond of each other. Playing games together helps children learn cooperation, teamwork and also helps them in bonding with one another.

Address the issue

It is important that you do not let the sibling rivalry go by. It is not just a phase in the childhood, it may very well follow them into their adulthood as well. Thus, pushing things under the rug will have a detrimental impact on the children, not to mention will gravely influence the family ties later on in life.

It is even more pertinent to address the issue especially when it is affecting the quality of lives of all the stakeholders, especially the parents and their marriage. Some children may also exhibit violent tendencies, harming themselves or others.

Sibling rivalry can also be a source of anxiety and stress in the lives of the family members and can lead to problems like depression later in life as well. Thus, enlist the help of the Best Psychiatrist in Karachi when the rivalry is getting out of hand, as expert intervention is vital.

Tips for renting out apartments for rent in Abu Dhabi

Published

on

apartments

One of the main reasons for apartments for rent in Abu Dhabi is that foreigners worldwide regard the process as transparent and straightforward. All documentation is designed so that it is easy and straightforward to understand even a nonprofessional person. Government authorities control every transaction. A large number of significant real estate developer companies also indicate their reliability. Immobilien is very diverse, and the number is growing steadily. Most buildings are under five and stand out from the rest of Abu Dhabi’s older buildings.

Apartment benefits:

1. Return

Investment returns are also an essential factor. This is an excellent indicator because not every bank in the world can boast that its depositors have such a share of income. At the same time, you gain two times by apartments for rent in Abu Dhabi. Firstly, the potential revenue for rent, and secondly, the property’s value is increasing year by year. Many see real estate in Abu Dhabi as a two-way investment: you can get rental income for several years, and then you can sell the object profitably.

2. Flexible.

For their flexibility, some renters prefer the property to rent Abu Dhabi whether working, travelling or just a slicker apartment on the street. For example, a Dubai short term rental will enable you to see a job outside your natural “commuting” zone if you are looking for work. Or, if you need to move to another city for a temporary assignment, a short term Dubai rental will give you additional mobility. Moreover, if you move to a new town and want to take your time to the area in the best place to settle, a short-term Dubai rental would give you the opportunity to hang up in town while you live in it.

3. Ready for space living.

In Dubai, property to rent Abu Dhabi is usually fully equipped and ready to live, from kitchenware and tableware to material and bath sheets.

4. For your money, you get a lot more.

A short-term rental in Dubai usually features an equipped kitchen to save on food at restaurants: great for individuals and families.

5. Cost.

For renters, short-term rentals in Dubai can have minor inconveniences. For one, property buyers tend to sell more for a short-term rental, including cleaning and rental furniture costs. This will not only cost you in the short term but also long term if you continue to renew the short-term rental for a more extended period. Furthermore, rent increases and changes in terms of the lease are always possible more frequently than in a long-term contract.

Conclusion:  There are two options for long-term or short-term accommodation in Abu Dhabi. In the ABU DHABI, anything in the short term is less than one year (with renewal options) and in a long time is more than one year. In addition, unlike in other countries, short-term rentals via the Department of Tourism and Trade Marketing are fully regulated. Short and long-term opportunities are essential for a healthy property market and short-term rent growth in Abu Dhabi in recent years. Hence, when you are looking forward to rent an apartment in Abu Dhabi, then it is always a good decision to get in touch with an expert and experienced company which has a proper idea about the same.

It is even more challenging when you are traveling during this unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic. However, there are some useful tips that you need to keep in mind to make your life easier as you travel in the middle of the pandemic. Keep on reading and we will share all those details that you need to be aware of.

Things to do before you travel

The very first thing you should do before travel is to take a look at the travel restrictions. Travel restrictions are constantly being changed at very short notice during these uncertain times. Hence, you should keep yourself updated regarding the change to travel guidance to make sure that you don’t encounter any surprises as you travel.

Some of the travel destinations would require you to have a fit to fly covid certificate. You need be mindful about this as well and prepare well in advance of your travel plans if this is possible. If you require evidence of a negative Covid 19 test you need to make sure that you make an appointment and obtain the certificate within the required timeframe. Then you can proceed with traveling. Since you are traveling with kids, you should specifically check and see whether you need to get a fit to fly Covid test certificate for your kids as well or not.

All the parents who travel with kids should pick airline seats strategically. The main objective of selecting such seats is to minimize contacts with other people. It is a good idea to refrain from reserving aisle seats. Moreover, you should also refrain from reserving seats in the rows located near restrooms. Make sure that you speak to the airline ahead of time and reserve the appropriate seats.

There are some essentials that you need to take along with you as you travel. For example, you should take hand sanitizer and proper face masks. Only buy hospital-grade sanitizers for higher effectiveness, and when it comes to masks, purchase reusable covers with multiple layers of protection like these masks from AusAir. Likewise, you should also carry disposable gloves, tissues, disinfecting wipes, and portable chargers.

Things to do at the airport

You should also be mindful on how to make your life easy as possible at the airport. It is advisable to check online before you come to the airport. This will not only save you time but will also minimize contact with ticketing agents. Then you will need to check the bags while going through minimum touchpoints. If you can keep the boarding information on your phone, you can further reduce interactions with people. So make sure your phone is fully charged.

There can be crowds at the airport. This is where you should try your best to maintain a distance of at least 6 feet from others who don’t travel with you. If your kid is aged above 2 years, you should provide a mask. Along with the mask, you can also allow the kids to wear face shields as they provide extra protection. Make sure that you purchase an appropriate mask that delivers both comfort and protection for the kids while wearing them for an extended duration of time.

You need to take complete advantage of family boarding. It will be less congested, and you will not have to wait in the queue at the ordinary pre-boarding line.

Things to do while you are on the plane

As soon as you get into the plane, you will need to wipe down everything with the help of disinfecting wipes. For example, you should wipe the seats, tray tables, arm rests, call button, and everything else that you will be touching.

Most airlines have paused their beverage and snack services. However, you will be provided with pack snacks. You can consume them quickly. Make sure that you keep the air vent wide open, so that you can facilitate circulation of air.

Follow these tips and you will minimise risk to yourself and others and will have a safe traveling experience with your kids during the Covid 19 pandemic.

Boaz Derra | Epasero Travel “Move over Cancun! Here are the best places to visit in Mexico’s Yucatan”

Published

on

Travel By Boaz Derra

Cancun is one of the most popular travel destinations on the planet. But, while millions of people touch down at Cancun International Airport each year, many of them will never leave a ten-kilometer radius of the airport! And that’s a real shame. Why?

“Well, I won’t go so far as to say that Cancun is overrated (*ahem* Cancun is overrated *ahem*), but what I will say is that there is a lot more to discover in Mexico’s Yucatan peninsula than what you’ll find in Cancun.”

Boaz Derra

Boaz Derra is a #HostelworldInsider with a true passion for travel. He is a Director of Epasero travel and has over 15 years of experience in the luxury travel and accommodation industry. In addition, he has traveled to over sixty countries on six continents. He now blogs about emerging destinations like the ones you’ll read about here.

From ancient Mayan ruins to jungle swimming holes, to magical lakes, the Yucatan offers so much to experience on your adventure. And, with an awesome network of hostels to support you along the way, there’s no excuse for not venturing a bit off the beaten path!

To help give you some trip-planning inspiration:

Here are 10 incredible places Boaz Derra recommends visiting in Mexico’s Yucatan BESIDES Cancun:

. . . . . . . .

Tulum

Formerly a sleepy fishing village, Tulum is currently one of the hottest travel destinations in the world. It’s so hot, in fact, that it’s recently become the go-to beach destination for some of the world’s top celebrities (everyone from Leonardo DiCaprio to the Kardashians was spotted there in 2017).

What makes Tulum so popular?

In one word: beaches. In twenty words: stunningly gorgeous white sand beaches flanked by lush jungle on one side and crystal-clear sapphire water on the other.

Simply put, Tulum has some of the best beaches on the entire continent, not to mention beach-side Mayan ruins (but try climbing on them and you’ll get kicked out, as Justin Beiber purportedly did!). With all these A-lister celebs flooding here for their vacays, Tulum is also one of the safest places to visit in Mexico. Fortunately, despite the influx of the luxury traveler set, Tulum has managed to keep its status as a backpacker town.

. . . . . . . .

Playa del Carmen

If Cancun is that spoiled younger sibling who is used to getting whatever they want, Playa del Carmen is the eldest kid in the same family: a bit more sophisticated, but still always down for a good time.

Playa del Carmen’s strategic location on the Mayan Riviera means it’s the perfect base for day trips to explore all that the Yucatan has to offer. From here, you can take a dip in several nearby cenotes (underground swimming holes), explore the nearby ‘ecotourism theme parks’ like Xcaret, or venture further afield to see the Mayan ruins at Coba.

Or, if all that sounds like too much work, just grab a towel and a beer and head to the beach – it’s walking distance from tons of amazing hostels.

. . . . . . . . .

Bacalar

Mexico’s Yucatan is famed for its incredible oceanfront on the Caribbean. But believe it or not, some of the best water around here is found in a lake!

Laguna de Bacalar is known by the nickname “The Lake of Seven Colors.” And trust us when we say that it lives up to that moniker! The colors of the water here have been known to mesmerize visitors ever since the lake was used as a secret pirate hideout hundreds of years ago.

The best way to explore Bacalar is by hopping into a kayak or on a stand-up paddle board. Fortunately, there are several hostels on offer here sporting lake-front property, private docks, and free kayaking and other water sports.

. . . . . . . .

Isla Mujeres

It’s only a 20-minute ferry ride from Cancun, but the vibe here couldn’t be any more different.

This sleepy island is the perfect retreat for those looking to escape it all, and easily one of the best places to visit in Mexico. There is some excellent snorkeling to be had just off the island, including snorkeling with whale sharks during the summer – rather you than me! But otherwise, there just isn’t a whole lot to do here except lounge on the island’s beautiful sand beaches, meander its many shops and stalls, and watch the sun slowly slip down over the ocean. Sounds like paradise, right?

. . . . . . . . .

Puerto Morelos

It’s hard to believe that this quiet village is just twenty minutes south of Cancun, because it feels like a different world. Small enough that the locals all seem to know each other, but with enough on offer to keep you busy, Puerto Morelos is the perfect destination for if you’re looking to get off the beaten path without having to go too far.

From zip lining, to swimming in cenotes, to driving ATVs, there’s a lot just waiting to be explored here.

. . . . . . . .

Isla Holbox

Forget paved roads. Forget cars, and taxis, and trucks. Forget giant resorts and huge shopping malls. On the isolated island of Isla Holbox, you won’t find any of that. Instead, you may feel like you’ve stepped back in time (maybe this is how Cancun felt decades ago?)

There are basically only three ways to get around the island: on foot, by bike, or via golf cart! Whatever you choose, you’ll love exploring the island’s many wild beaches, most of which sport water so shallow that you can walk a hundred meters or more into the sea!

Oh, and if you’re lucky enough to visit in May or June, you’ll be treated to the spectacular site of swimming with whale sharks (the largest fish in the world!)

. . . . . . . .

Merida

Say it with me now: Mexico is about more than just beaches!

So, if you prefer a bit of culture with your trip, you won’t want to miss out on the Yucatan’s capital city of Merida. Its historical center exudes history, color, flavor, and energy.

Oh … and do you want to know a dirty little secret? The best Mayan ruins in the Yucatan aren’t at the over-crowded Chichen Itza: they are just west of Merida at Uxmal, where you might just feel like you have the entire archaeological complex all to yourself (shhhh … let’s keep this between us, ok?!)

. . . . . . . .

Akumal

Situated between Tulum and Playa del Carmen, Akumal is best known for one thing… turtles!

Year around, Akumal is one of the best places on the planet to swim with these magical sea creatures. Best yet, you don’t need to hire an expensive tour to do it: just rent some flippers and a mask from a stall by the beach, swim out a few dozen meters, and look around for a new green friend.

The secret is out about this magical place, though, so here’s a pro-tip: up early to have some alone time with the turtles before the tour buses from Cancun roll in!

. . . . . . . .

Cozumel

Sure, lying on a beach and partying can be fun. But if you really want to experience the Mayan Riviera, why not see it from underneath the water?

Cozumel may be best known as one of the most popular cruise ship destinations in the world, but it also offers some of the best diving you’ll find this side of Thailand!

Best yet, the island is blissfully quiet in the evenings after the cruise crowd heads back to their ships. That means the island will be all yours!

. . . . . . .

Valladolid

Most tourists only briefly blast through this town on a tour bus on their way to visit Chichen Itza. And, sure, Chichen Itza is one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, so it’s probably worth a visit.

But it’d be a shame to miss a night or two in this charming colonial town. Spend your days marveling at its many brightly colored buildings (perfect for snapping that killer pic for Instagram) and your evenings downing shots of mezcal (think a smokier version of tequila) in a rowdy cantina. And if you need something to cure the hangover the next day, try jumping from a rope into the frigid water of the town’s many cenotes.

. . . . . . . . .

Finally, Boaz Derra comments with enthusiasm: As you can see, there’s so much to do in Mexico’s Yucatan peninsula besides Cancun! Heck, I dare say that you might even want to skip Cancun altogether. But wherever you go, the peninsula is filled with lovely hotels just looking to welcome you as a guest!

What Things Should You Inspect Before Applying For A 189 Visa Australia?

Published

on

If you have high skills and technical expertise in your occupational field, you can think of moving to Australia to stay and work there permanently. You can also sponsor your relatives and family members. It can be possible through the Skilled Independent Subclass 189 Visa program. One of the significant benefits of this visa program is that it doesn’t require the holder to get any sponsorship from a relative of the Australian employer. Having skills and knowledge can be enough.

So, here we present some of the crucial aspects related to the visa along with things you should keep in mind.

What is the Skilled Independent Visa Subclass 189?

The Skilled Independent Visa Subclass 189 is a permanent Australian visa granted to the applicants who receive proper invitations from a state or territorial government of Australia. The employers or the states need not sponsor the skilled workers. Once granted, this visa will let you do the following.

  • You can stay permanently in Australia.
  • You can study and work in Australia.
  • If eligible relatives want to come to Australia and apply for a PR visa, you can sponsor them.
  • You can enroll in the national healthcare scheme of Australia, Medicare.
  • Once eligible, you can apply for citizenship.
  • After the visa is granted in the next five years, you can travel within and outside Australia as many times as you want.

What are the things to consider before applying for the visa?

Before you apply for the 189 Visa to Australia, you must know the whole procedure and what factors are involved. Go through the following points to get an idea.

How does the application procedure work?

You can apply for a visa while being inside or outside Australia. You have to go through a two-step application process, where you have first to submit an EOI (Expression of Interest) and then apply for the visa once you receive the invitation to apply.

  • The visa program works according to the needs of the occupations. For example, about 7145 construction workers are needed in the current 2020-’21 program.
  • On the other hand, the required number of child care center managers and music professionals is 1000 each. It means hundreds of professionals can get the chance to explore their opportunities.

There are two streams under this visa, which you should be aware of.

The Points-tested Stream

For this stream, the Department of Home Affairs evaluates the EOI. Therefore, the submitted EOI should contain details about your qualifications, skills, and occupation. Based on these details, you will get your rank in points. The eligibility criteria for the points-tested stream are as follows.

  • The age of the applicants should be under 45.
  • The nominated occupation should be present in the relevant skilled occupations list.
  • You should have a positive skills assessment for your occupation. A relevant authority conducts the skills assessment.
  • After submitting the EOI, the applicant gets an invitation from the government. Once invited, you can apply for a visa.
  • Your application has to mention whether you have any medical condition that needs continuous support from the community or the government.
  • You should also state whether or not you have any serious disease like Tuberculosis or any other infectious disease.
  • You must achieve the required points for the points-tested stream.

The New Zealand Stream

Applicants from New Zealand can apply for this stream, and they usually do not need to go through a points-testing. The eligibility criteria are slightly different for this stream.

  • As an applicant from New Zealand, you have to show that you have made significant contributions to the Australian job sector and are committed to this country.
  • Residing in Australia for the last 5 years is necessary.
  • Your period of stay should have started before 20 February 2016.
  • You have to satisfy the taxable income requirements.
  • Satisfying the character requirements is a must.
  • You also have to mention whether you have any medical condition that needs continuous attention and support from the community or government.
  • Last but not least, you should also state whether you have any infectious disease like Tuberculosis.

For a New Zealand citizen, migrating to Australia is relatively easier. The TTTA (Trans-Tasman Travel Arrangement) is operational between the two countries. This is why the New Zealand stream’s eligibility criteria are much less than the Points-Tested stream.

How do the points testing work?

After submitting your EOI, the authority will assess the EOI and award points based on your qualifications. If your score is higher than average and there are vacancies in the occupation category, you will receive an invitation to apply.

Currently, the minimum number of points one has to score is 65. This score will be calculated based on age, educational qualification, work experience, English language skills, etc.

Skills assessment and occupation relevancy

Before submitting the Expression of Interest, it is crucial to check whether your occupation is listed in the relevant skilled occupation list or not. You must also go through a skills assessment to prove that you are skilled enough to work in that profession.

For each different occupation, different assessing authority does the evaluation. So, before you proceed, have a thorough check on that because Immigration accepts only those applications assessed by relevant authorities.

For how long does the Expression of Interest remain valid?

After submission, the validity for the EOI document is two years, and within this period, you will receive an invitation to apply for the visa. Before the invitation is sent, you will always have the chance to update your information on the website. It may increase your chances of getting the invitation. Remember, once you receive the ITA (invitation to apply), you cannot change your score.

Invitation and application

After receiving the application, you will have a maximum of 60 days in your hands to apply for the Visa Subclass 189. You can apply for a visa while being inside or outside Australia. If you want to apply while being in Australia, you can have a bridging visa. It will allow you to stay as long as the decision is made.

While assessing, the Immigration Department will first see whether you are fulfilling the eligibility criteria. The assessment will also depend on the points that you have scored in the Expression of Interest. Achieving a higher than average score will help you get a positive outcome.

Processing of the visa application

Several factors are taken into consideration when the applications are processed. These factors include the number of applications submitted at a given time, when the applications are submitted, etc.

Whom can you include in the application?

  • In your Visa 189 application, you can include the following members of your family.
  • Your partner or spouse
  • Your or your partner’s dependent relative
  • Your or your partner’s dependent child
  • Dependent children mean children who are under 18 and financially dependent on your or your partner.

Final words

Before submitting the EOI, you can get in touch with a Perth migration agent to take suggestions on how you should proceed. Several leading consultancy firms can provide you with contacts of these professionals. We always recommend hiring a qualified immigration agent Perth as they can guide you through the whole process to get the best possible visa application outcome.
