Ultimately, depending on your role, you may need to determine their network, hardware, and software requirements and devise solutions or make recommendations to improve efficiency.

A quick search of available IT consultancy jobs on the internet shows that most positions across the board pay between $85,000 and $100,000 a year. However, IT management consultant positions pay between $125,000 and $175,000 per year.

Training and Requirements

The educational training or requirements for an IT consultancy position will depend on the specific role you take on. For any IT job, though, you will need to have a high degree of proficiency with information technology and computer systems.

But formal education and training will give you an edge, particularly for work in some industries. An understanding of economics, logistics, and more will also give you a competitive advantage.
