  1. Doris Duke’s Shangri La

Built-in 1937, the Doris Duke’s Shangri La is an 85-year-old landmark situated in Oahu. Ask any local and they will tell you where it is situated. Such is the popularity of the place.

Now open for everyone to visit, the place offers intricate artwork made from marbles and tiles from Iran. If you are an art lover and appreciate ornamental architecture then this is the place for you. The Moroccan-inspired wood ceilings look beautiful and yes, you can have your aesthetic photographs get taken over there.

  1. Bishop Museum

The Bishop Museum is another very popular landmark situated in Oahu. It is the largest museum in the state of Hawaii and is filled with history and culture of the place.

Just walking in will teleport you to the times when the Polynese used to visit the place. Just the history of the place is such that you can just soak into it. We still think that without understanding the history of a place one can not really get to know the culture and the traditions of the place they are visiting.

  1. Hanuma Bay

Hanuma Bay is one of the most popular tourist attractions and can get really crowded at times. The reason? Well, for starters the absolute beauty of the place is such that you will remember it for your lifetime.

You can swim with the fishes if you like and enjoy seeing the reef from your own bare eyes. The water is so clear that even the sand beneath is visible. The authorities keep the premises closed on Monday and Tuesday to make sure that the fish around get some rest.  Hence, it is recommended that you plan accordingly.

  1. Kaena Point

Kaena Point is situated at the west of Oahu. It is a 2.5 mile trek to the west most point of Oahu. Also known as the “leaping place of the souls” , the Kaena Point is breathtaking.

The journey to the top itself is scenic and worth every step you take. You can rest anywhere you like, have a sip of water and then move on. Just keep in mind that there is no shade of trees on the way so make sure that you carry your sunscreen, hat, and water when you decide to trek.
